The income is also expected to rise to USD 465 million this 2017, according to an eSports data expert called Newzoo. The international audience was also expected to reach a total of 385 million this 2017, which is made up of 191 million regular spectators and 194 million occasional viewers. Esports stars are also beginning to earn more than expected. For instance, Faker, a South Korean player, already receives £2 million annually, excluding the bonuses and the sponsorship, and he just turned 21!

Professional eSports companies, as well as players, aim to collect a large sum of money from the games, and sponsors attend in matches to have a glimpse of what could happen in the future if they invest today.

There’s no doubt that the audience of eSports is becoming larger and larger by the hour, encouraging those who weren’t previously interested in gaming. More and more sports teams are also investing in eSports recently.

Even though eSports are still a bit far from the achievement and influence of pro-sports, it’s normal to compare the two types of endeavors especially with the size of the audience that eSports are trying to create now.
